THE FIELD IS OPEN FOR FLYING! (Update from Dave Anderson)

THE FIELD IS OPEN FOR FLYING!
Huge thanks especially to Chuck Murray who rode his trusty Kubota for a solid 6 hours today to get this work done. If you know Chuck, I hope you will give him a call and tell him what a stud he is! Additionally, we had Thomas McCartney – my right hand man (again, every time) to help. Stan Rylee (again), Jason Webberly! ( wow, good to see him out there lending a hand), Pat Sperling (again), and new guys (again): Larry Reihl, Courtney Smith (our kill-the-moss hero), and Stuart Weible.

These 9 people did the work of my 30-man work crew I was calling for these last few weeks! Everyone in this club should be amazed and thankful for the (for some) SEVEN HOURS they put in at the field today. As a result, the Saturday work party to fix the shoulders – is CALLED OFF! If you know any of these people, please contact them and say thanks!
Next up, Ed Fenner will be out tomorrow (Friday) to use his tractor and chain rake to smooth out more of the dirt we put down. I could use two or three people to help with this. If you can, please call/text me and I will take the first two. 360 521-6419 Thomas, Stan – stay home! You earned a day off!
PLEASE NOTE: The approach areas of the runway need more work. Please survey the approach areas before you fly and take your precautions. BUT THE RUNWAY AND FIELD IS OPEN NOW.
After Ed does his work, I will seed the affected areas. And, after the rains, we will see some depressions in the loose soil we worked on. We did compact these areas by running car tires through it – worked well, but the ground will naturally settle more. We will arrange another work party to brush sand into those areas, at which point, they will be maintained to ward off grass and weeks in that so-important transition area.
Cal/text me if you can join me tomorrow. Come out there, participate, and put your name on the roster for this exciting update to the field we are doing.
The three folks in the pic – Thomas McCartney, Stuart Weible, and Stan stayed to the bitter end today, along with Chuck (who lifted me in the bucket for this aerial shot.
